On Day 1 from the Guwahati airport we shall hit the highway to reach Kaziranga National Park. It is about 200 Kms and we should be able to reach in anout 4 hours time. Kaziranga National Park is a protected area spred in across 450 sq Kms, across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, its forests, wetlands and grasslands. It is home to tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses. Ganges River dolphins swim in the park’s waters. We shall check into our resort on reaching the national park where you can freshen up and then we shall proceed to the national park to do a 2 hour Elephant safari inside the national park region. On finishing the safari we shall visit the Brahmaputra banks and go on a relaxing Canoe ride in Brahmaputra before returning to our resort where you can relax and the rest of the day.

Majuli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam and in 2016 it became the first island to be made a district in India. The island is formed by the Brahmaputra River in the south and the Kherkutia Xuti, an anabranch of the Brahmaputra, joined by the Subansiri River in the north. Majuli island is accessible by ferries from the city of Jorhat. It was formed due to course changes by the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries, mainly the Lohit. Majuli is the abode of the Assamese neo-Vaishnavite culture. The island of Majuli is an interesting place and indulging in the local food and culture is one of the best things to do while here. We shall spend the day cycling around some interesting spots on the island and getting to know some local culture in a close range.

From Majuli islad its a long 5 hour drive to reach Dimapur the commercial capital of Nagaland. Dimapur is also the biggest city in Nagaland. In Dimapur we can visit 2 main attractions around the city. The first being the Triple falls is just about 30-minute drive out of the city. Triple falls are three glistening water streams trickling down from a height of 280 ft to a natural pool looks stunning. The area is maintained by the tourist department of Nagaland. Back into the city we can visit the Kachari ruins which are famous for monoliths. This is believed that the scattered stones and bricks are the remains of temples and embankments.

On Day 4 we shall go on a 3 hour drive south from Dimapur to reach the trek point to visit the Dzouko Valley. Dzüko Valley is known for its natural environment, seasonal flowers and flora & fauna. It is situated at an altitude of 2452 m above sea level. The valley is also called the valley of flowers of the east. It is along 4 hour trek to reach the higher reaches of the valley, but then it is absolutely worth it once you reach there. The whole day is set aside only for this trek so we have enough time and space to do a relaxed trek of your choice. We shall spend some time in the Valley and return to reach by later afternoon to the car park. Also we will pack and carry some refreshments for lunch and snacks. On finishing the trek towards the later half of the afternoon we shall head to the Capital of Nagaland the beautiful city of Kohima. With a resident population of almost 100,000, it is the second-largest city of Nagaland. Kohima lies on the foothills of Japfü range located south of the District and has an average elevation of 1,450 meters. Because of its altitude, the city enjoys pleasant weather throughout the year. However as per our itinerary we have only 1 evening in the city unless you decide to extend it,

On Day 4 we head out from Kohima on a 4 hour drive to reach Imphal the capital of the third state on our trip, Manipur. Set by the Imphal river, it is beautiful city and it is one among the biggest city in the North east region of India. On reaching Imphal we shall visit a unique all woman market called the Ema Market. The market is believed to have been operating for more than 500 years and its solely run and is operated only by Women. After visiting the Ema market we shall visit the Kangla fort, the ruins of the once prestigious Palace of Kangla. After that we shall proceed to the hotel and check in for the night stay there.

The Loktak Lake is one of the largest freshwater lake in India as well as the largest lake in North East India. It is famous for the unique floating islands called “phumdis.“ These circular landmasses are made of vegetation, soil, and organic matter (at different stages of decomposition) that have been thickened into a solid form. The islands have a spongy surface that feels like a trampoline. Like an iceberg, most of the mass of phumdis lies below the water surface. During the dry season, when water levels drop, the living roots of the islands can reach the lakebed and absorb nutrients. The floating islands provide unique recreational activities and even camping and accomodation facilities. This day we shall be spending the day with activities like boating, fishing and visiting the worlds only floating national park in the Loktak lake. We can hope to catch the sight of the Brow-antlered Deer and the Dancing Deer. Both of these animals are on the critically endangered list. The Brow-antlered deer is indigenous to this region and is found nowhere else. This is the world’s only floating national park. At the end of the day we shall be spending the night in a lake side resort.

Day : 7 - South towards Mizoram

On Day 6 we head south from Loktak towards Mizoram. Its a long drive to reach Aizwal the capital of Mizoram so we shall spend the whole day on the road and break the journey in a national park called Ngopa on the way. Day : 8 - And reaching Aizawl

On Day 7 the whole day again is spend driving to reach Aizawl. The drive should take approximately 7 hours and we should reach Aizawl by late afternoon. On Day 8 we shall stick to mostly around the city to take it on a more relaxed manner. We shall start with visiting the Solomons Temple, which is a huge church made to resemble the structure of the Solomons temple in Jurusalem. After that we shall set out on a short drive and a trek to Reiek Peak and a visit to Reiek Heritage Village. Set at about 1600 meters the village is set on the top of a hill which is about 30 kms to the west of Aizwl. A half an hour trek is required to reach the top of the peak. The views from the top are worthy enough of the trek. On the way back from the peak we shall stop by at the beautiful waterfalls of Vaipuanpho Falls for a relaxing bath in the falls.

From Aizawl we shall drive north to reach the beautiful Meghalaya the highlight of the trip. The drive is long and has to be broken in between so we shall take a night break at the town of Panchgram in Assam. The drive should take us the whole day about 6 hours. The drive is not as thrilling as the ones we had done so far in the trip except for a few tea estates of Assam which will be a refreshing change.

On Day 10 we reach the magical Meghalaya. Meghalaya is a state that is filled with amazing green hills, Waterfalls in every nook and corner and caves. So in Meghalaya you have to be very selective in what all to see according to the time available at your end. So we have handpicked a few of the not to be missed destinations in Meghalaya and we are spending 5 days in this amazing state. So on Day 10 we reach Mawlynnong from Silchair and Panchgram area from Assam. The drive takes about 6 and half hour. Mawlynnong is famous as the cleanest village in Asia. The villagers see it as a daily ritual to clean up the village premises of the village, which makes it exemplary clean. The village streets are equipped with Bamboo baskets as trash cans and the residents and tourists are expected to follow the practice of maintaining the cleanliness of the village. On reaching Mawlynnong we shall check into our home stay first for you to relax for the day.

On Day 11 we set out to explore the sights and wonders of Meghalaya. We shall start with viewing the Bangladesh plains from Skyview Bangladesh View point. After that we shall visit the famous root bridges of the region. To begin with we shall explore Living Root Bridge in Mawlynnong. The we shall set out to visit the Byrdaw falls which involves a short trek too. The we shall visit the spectacular Krang Suri falls. Krang Suri falls is a spectacular falls that provides the best spot to swim in the pool. After that we shall visit proceed to see the star attraction of Meghalaya which is the Wah Umngot which is famous for its crystal clear waters. The water in the river is so clear that it will present you with surrealistic view of boats sailing in the Dawki river as if it is floating in the air above the water surface. We shall spend the rest of the afternoon by boating in Dawki river. The water in the river is maximum of 4 feet height so it is great spot for a swim. After that we can enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the riverside. You can also literally go and touch Bangladesh and come back because on the other side of the river is Bangladesh.

The living roots bridge can be accessed after a trek and after descending down 3500 steps. After the tiring exercise we shall proceed and check into our home stay to freshen up and relax for a while. Then by late afternoon we shall check out the rest of sights in the region like the Mawsmai caves and the famous Seven sisters waterfalls.

Day : 16 - The last day of the trip
On the last day of the trip we can do further city tour and shopping from Guwahati. When it is time for your flight back home we can head to the airport to catch your return flight home.
