Day : 1 - Coonoor and Toy train ride to Ootty

On Day 1 of the trip we can pick you up from Coimbatore airport and head up the Nilgiri mountains via Mettupalayam. Once on top of the hill ranges our first stop shall be at the beautiful hill station of Coonoor. Coonoor is a charming colonial hill station situated at an altitude of about 1850 meters above sea level. Coonoor and around makes a charming locale with its beautiful tea estates and hill vistas. In Coonoor, we shall visit the Laws falls situated just outside the Coonoor town. We can have lunch from Coonoor and then go on what is probably the most fun experience in the entire trip. We shall do a mountain toy train ride from Coonoor to Ooty in the afternoon. The toy train ride is a fun experience and lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes to cover its 20 km distance. The train passes through beautiful Eucalyptus woodlands, the charming Cantonment town of Wellington, the very colonial and pretty train stations of Ketti and Lovedale. On reaching Ooty approximately around 6 PM we shall have a little tour of this charming town and head to our homestay. In the evening we shall have a Barbeque around a camp fire at the resort. In the grills will be your favourite Veg and Non Veg foods.

Day : 2 - A picnic around Emerald Lake

On Day 2 after lunch from we shall set out to Emerald Lake and Avalanchi view point which is about 20 km south of Ootty. The area is famous for the Emerald Lake that has earned its name from the emerald-colored water of the lake, and the beautiful hill vistas around Avalanchi. The entire afternoon can be spent exploring the area and we can also do leisurely angling by the Emerald lake. We shall pack a picnic basket from the resort which we can have at the lake. The area around Emerald and Avalanchi being away from the hustle and bustle of Ootty town is much quieter than compared to the touristy areas of Ootty. Towards the evening we shall head back to our resort.

Day : 3 - Pykara and Wenlock downs

On day 3 we shall visit 2 very popular but lesser crowded tourist spots in Ootty. Situated just about 22 kms out of Ootty is the Pykara lake and waterfalls. We can do a boating at the boat house in Pykara as it is a lot more quite than the boat house in Ootty town. On the way back towards Ootty we can stop by at the popular movie shooting spot at the Wenlock downs 9th mile. The evening at the resort again can be spent around a campfire and with a barbeque to take in the chill of the night.

Day : 4 - Kotagiri and Kodanad

On Day 4 of the trip we shall check out from our hotel and head to Kotagiri. Kotagiri is a town situated about 32 kilometers east of Ootty. Kotagiri and around is situated at an average altitude of 1850 meters above sea level, slightly lower than that of Ootty making the weather slightly more temperate and pleasant. On reaching Kotagiri we can check into our resort first and by afternoon head out to visit 2 popular spots around Kotagiri. First we shall visit the Kodanad View point which is about 20 km out of Kotagiri. The view point is situated at the far reaches and at the Eastern edge of the Nilgiri mountain ranges and the view to the backdrop of the plains of Tamil Nadu is well worth the drive. After that we can drive to the popular Elk falls and the Uyillatti waterfalls.

Day : 5 - Longwood Shola and Catherine falls

On Day 5 we shall set out on a short trek to Longwood Shola reserve forest. Longwood Shola is one of the best places to visit in Kotagiri for all trekking enthusiasts. In this forest reserve where you can witness the rich flora and fauna. All wildlife admirers can spot Indian Bison and flying fox at the Longwood Shola Forest Reserve. After that we can set out on a short trek to visit the Catherine falls. Catherine Falls is a double-cascaded waterfall of which the upper fall only drops to the floor, and it is the second-highest in the Nilgiri Mountains. The waters from the upper stream of the Kallar River are crossed by the Mettupalayam-Ooty road beyond the mountains in the southwest. The combined height of both falls is about 76 metres. After visiting the falls we shall return to our resort to spend the last night in Nilgiris.

Day : 6 - Coimbatore city

The last day of the trip we shall leave our resort to reach Coimbatore city after about 2 hours. On reaching Coimbatore we can have a traditional Tamil Nadu style Thali lunch. Post lunch we can have a little city tour of Coimbatore city. Coimbatore also known as Kovai, is one of the major metropolitan cities in Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the Noyyal River and surrounded by the Western Ghats. Coimbatore is the second-largest city in Tamil Nadu after Chennai and the 16th largest urban agglomeration in India as per the census 2011. By later on in the afternoon we can drive to the airport for you to catch your return flights back home.
