Athirapally waterfalls are just about 2 hours drive from Ernakulam and the drive is a very pretty one. The waterfall is a spectacular sight where Chalakudy river plunges down from a height of 30 meters to its path below. One can get to the base of the waterfalls after a short trek. From Athirapally we shall ascend through the western ghat mountain ranges to reach Valaparai hill station in Tamil Nadu state. The road to Valparai from Athirapally is about 65 km through the dense tropical forests of Kerala, which are teeming with wildlife and elephants are a regular sighting on this route. On reaching Valparai we shall stop by to enjoy a boat ride in the Sholayar reservoir area. Valparai is a hill station that is famous for its beautiful tea estates. Valparai enjoys pleasant weather throughout the year owing to its altitude. We shall spend our first night of the trip at Valparai.

Day : 2 - Palani temple and Kodaikanal

On Day 2 of the trip, we shall descend the hills to the plains of Tamil Nadu and reach Palani the temple town of Tamil Nadu. Palani is famous for the Murugan temple which is situated on top of a small hill overlooking the Palani town. To reach the top of the hill we can take a winch train that ascends the hill to drop us on top of the hill to visit the temple. After visiting Palani we shall ascend the high reaches of Western Ghats mountains again to reach the ever-popular hill station of South India, Kodaikanal. Kodaikanal is situated at an altitude of over 2300 meters above sea level making it a highly sought-after hill station for its year-around cold climate, especially to escape the harsh and hot climate of the plains of Tamil Nadu. Kodaikanal is famous for its misty valleys, and spectacular hill views. On reaching Kodai we can visit the famous Coakers walk and take a drive around the pretty Kodaikanal lake, before checking into the hotel to stay for the night.

Day : 3 - Onto spectacular Munnar

On Day 3 we shall descend the hills of Kodaikanal to the plains of Tamil Nadu, only to ascend the mighty Western Ghats again to reach the Caradamom hills of Kerala. A pleasant 3-hour drive from Kodai will get us to the stunningly pretty hill station of Munnar. Munnar is famous for its year-round pleasant climate and the beautiful vistas of the tea plantations. Munnar is a whole region spread across the western ghats with its altitudes ranging from 1600 meters to 2700 meters above sea level.

Day : 4 - The plantation belt of Kerala

On Day 4 we shall leave from Munnar and drive through the plantation belt of Kerala to reach Ernakulam city our final destination in the trip. The drive from Munnar to Ernakulam passes through some of the greenest patches in the state and it's an absolute delight for travelers to soak in the sceneries on the way. On reaching Ernakulam we shall do a short city tour and visit the heritage region of Ernakulam, Fort Kochi, before dropping you to the railway station for you to catch your return train home.
