Mandu or Mandav is just about 100 Kms and 2 hour drive away from Indore city. Mandu is a city that is reeking of history, historical forts, palaces, and monuments. Mandu was once a thriving city situated on top of the hills about 600 meters higher from the plains below and surrounded by dense forests. It was a protected city in all sense that gave the feel of extreme safety and security to its rulers and conquerors. In its long history, the city has borne the marks of repeated rules of the Dynasties, the Marathas, and the Mughals that have left the city a potpourri of various architectural wonders of palaces, forts, and monuments bearing both Hindu and Mughal styles. Another notable feat of the rulers was to introduce a rainwater harvesting system for Mandu as it constantly used to experience a shortage of groundwater, and the rulers decided to build various lakes and ponds in the region to harvest rainwater and thus maintain the balance of the groundwater level around the region. One of the best examples of this is the Jahaz Mahal which has a beautiful system for storage of rainwaters by making 2 ponds on both sides of the palace. In Mandu, we shall be visiting the most important monuments and forts in the region that including the spectacular Jahaz mahal, Rani Roopamathi Pavilion, Hindola Mahal, Jami Masjid, Baz Bahadur palace, and the most interesting Bagh caves. Most of the forts and palaces are situated very close to each other making it relatively easy to commute and visit the attractions.

Day : 2 - Maheshwar and Omkareshwar

Just 40 km and 1 hour away from Mandu is the historic town of Maheshwar. Maheshwar was the capital of Malwa and it is situated on the banks of the Narmada river. In the late eighteenth century, Maheshwar served as the capital of the great Maratha queen Rajmata Ahilya Devi Holkar. She embellished the city with many buildings and public works, and it is home to her palace, as well as numerous temples, a fort, and riverfront ghats (broad stone steps which step down to the river). The Ahaliya fort and temple in Maheshwar make the town of Maheshwar one of the most visited spots in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The spectacular structure of the Fort has been a favorite movie shooting location for Bollywood movies. The Maheshwar ghat is the adorned stone pavilion and steps on the river banks of the Narmada river that can be approached as one descends down the steps from the Ahaliya bai temple in the Maheshwar fort. After visiting Maheshwar we shall head further East, as 70 km away is the holy town of Omkareshwar again situated on the banks of the Narmada river. The town is extremely popular for the Shiv temple that is situated on Shivpuri island on the banks of Narmada and river Kaveri (a tributary of Narmada). The island is 4 KM long and 2.6 km2 in area and can be approached by boats and bridge. Very close to the temple is one of the largest dams in India, on the Narmada river, the Indira Sagar Dam is the largest dam in India, in terms of the volume of water stored in the reservoir. We can visit the temple following which go down to the Narmada river banks to do a short boat ride on the Narmada river and go all the way up to the close ranges of the dam and return.

Day : 3 - Mohadi waterfalls and Indore city

On day 3 of the trip, we shall head back to Indore city from Omkareshwar crossing the Choral ghats and mountain region that is spread all the way from the Narmada river to Indore. On the way, we shall stop by a beautiful waterfall called the Mohadi waterfalls. Mohadi waterfalls are just about 30 km before reaching Indore. To reach the waterfalls there is a short and easy trek involved and what awaits you is the breathtaking sight of water falling from a height in the midst of a verdant valley. Nearby are the Tincha waterfalls which are very similar to Mohadi waterfalls, where the water falls from a height to the valley below. After that we shall head to Indore city where we shall visit the Lal Bagh palace and the Rajwada Palace. Indore city is famous for its street food and chats and it gets its best at its own concept of the clean evening and night food street called the Chappan Dukan street. We can enjoy some street food from Chappan Dukan street before retiring for the night in this vibrant city.

Day : 4 - Last Day of the trip

On the last day of the trip we shall further explore Indore city. Indore is famous as the education hub of the state and due to the same reason, it has a more vibrant feel to it than the capital of Madhya Pradesh Bhopal. Indore has been consistently voted as the cleanest city of India and a city tour through its well-kept clean streets and avenues is a good experience for this city. In the morning we shall explore 2 major tourist destinations in the city the first one is the Kanch Ka Mandir, literally meaning Temple of Glass, which is a famous Jain temple in Indore. The interior of Kanch Ka Mandir is entirely covered by glass panels and mosaics; including the floor, columns, walls, and ceilings. Adjacent to Kaanch mandir is the magnificent Sheesh mahal, a sprawling residential complex that once belonged to a wealthy businessman of Indore, which is now preserved and maintained by the archeological department of India. We shall also visit the White Church, one of the oldest and largest churches in central India. It was built in the year 1858. The church displays ancient British architecture, which was prevalent in most of the protestant churches in Britain. After visiting the White Church. The last day in this city can also be spent shopping before heading to the airport or railway station for you to catch your return flights/ train back to your homes.
